Scientific Method Limitations

ntroduction to Scientific Method Limitations:
This article is showing the limitations for scientific method. Scientific method is otherwise said to be as scientific notation which helps to show the big numbers into simplest form of a number. Scientific method is of positive and negative method. Example for scientific Method:

  • Positive Method: 170000000 this can be expressed as 1.7 x 108.
  • Negative Method: One more method in decimal is 0.0000071 = 7.1 x 10-6

Limitations for Scientific Notation:

Limitations for scientific notation are given below that:
  • Point 1: The exponents of the base integer must be in10
  • Point 2: Set the decimal point of the following initial digit only in given number.
  • Point 3: Positive scientific method can be modify only for large whole number as small.
  • Point 4: Negative scientific method can be written for only the decimal number by the absence of whole number.
For Example: 0.0000071 = 7.1 x 10-6, here initial digit have only one number.
These are the limitations for both positive and negative scientific method
Procedure for the positive scientific method:
Step 1: After put decimal of following initial digit, count the digit present after the decimal point.
Step 2: Now the counted number is to be the exponents of 10.
General form: a × 10b
Procedure for the negative scientific method:
Step 1: After put decimal of following initial digit, count the digit present before the decimal point.
Step 2: Here we count the number is from right to left. Hence the counted number is to be the exponents of 10 must in minus.
General form: a × 10-b

Example Problems – Scientific Method Limitations:

Example 1:
Change the number 145000 in scientific method.
Solution:
Given:  145000
Step 1:
Place the decimal of initial digit in given number. Here the initial digit is 1 and then 14500 can be written 1.4500
a = 1
Step 2: Count the digit present after the decimal. There are 5 digits.
Step 3: Thus the 5 is the exponent of 10.
1.45 x 105 = 145000
Answer: 1.45 x 105
Example 2:
Change the decimal 0.00361 in scientific notation.
Solution:
Given:  0.00361
Step 1:
Place the decimal of initial digit in given number.
Here the initial digit is 8 and then 0.00361 can be written 003.61
                     a = 3
Step 2: Count the digit present before the decimal. There are 3 digits.
Step 3: Thus the 3 is the exponent of 10 must in minus.
3.61 x 10-3 = 0.00361
Answer: 3.61 x 10-3
